“The Best of The Beatles” was a best-of album planned exclusively for Japan to coincide with The Beatles’ first concert tour in Japan in 1966. Featuring a Japan-exclusive tracklist of 16 songs, the album even reached the test-pressing stage, but its release was canceled due to a lack of permission from the UK, making it known among Beatles scholars as a “legendary record.” This best-of album has now been fully reissued as a strictly limited-edition CD in a paper sleeve with an obi strip. All tracks are sourced from the original analog recordings from the 1960s. “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “She Loves You,” “Love Me Do,” and “P.S. I Love You” are presented in pseudo-stereo, while the remaining tracks are direct transfers from analog sources, faithfully reproducing the original sound of the era—distinct from digital remasters.
It is said that only a handful of test pressings still exist, making this a highly sought-after title that faithfully reproduces "The Best of The Beatles"—a treasure so rare that it’s even harder to find than “Butcher Covers” or gold Parlophone pressings. A must-have for collectors! Comes in a deluxe coated paper sleeve with an obi strip!
