46. Elastic Rhinoplasty

A long nose can be shortened and the tip reshaped by implanting an elastic thread through a 2 mm incision.
Elastic lifting of the nose has not only an esthetic objective, but also a functional purpose. Indeed, by correcting the nasolabial angle, this procedure improves the patient's breathing. The indication for this simple procedure is established during the preoperative examination. The nose-tip is pinched between two fingers and is drawn backwards and upwards; if it is raised easily, the elastic thread can be implanted.
The result is optimal and stable over time.

45. Lifting the upper lip with two elastic threads

A long upper lip is an esthetic defect of familial origin. If the lip is not excessively long, it can be lifted by means of two elastic threads. 
The preoperative design is drawn from the wing of the nose to the contralateral margin of the columella. From here, it descends obliquely to the extremity of cupid's bow, follows the edge of the vermilion border and then travels back up to the wing of the nose. Anesthesia is loco-regional.

A 2 mm incision is made at the point where the nasal bones meet the frontal bone. The preoperative design is drawn along the sides of the nose. The line is drawn between the curved surface of the bridge of the nose and the plane surface of the ascending processes of the maxilla. The line continues along the nose-tip, passing halfway between the upper extremity of the nostrils and the apex of the tip of the nose. The design is completed by marking the inferior margins of the ascending processes of the maxilla, which delimit the safest area of intervention.

43. Elastic gluteoplasty with the Elasticum thread and Jano cannula under local anesthesia: basic procedure

This patient's bottom looks hollowed and drooping. An elastic gluteoplasty procedure will lift and firm up the soft tissues of the buttocks. This is done by means of the EP5 Elasticum thread and the two-tipped Jano cannula.
The preoperative design of the pathways of the elastic threads to be implanted is the same as the one we used in the first elastic gluteoplasty with two circular sutures, which was published on CRPUB in 2013.
